The One With a Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has arrived again. And with it, another fun filled Thanksgiving Day. This year, we did some standard things and some new things.

1. We watched the Macy's Day Parade.

2. We had a small breakfast.

3. We played several games, including Smart Ass for the first time. This is a GREAT trivia game.

4. We had an amazing meal.

5. We watched our standard "Miracle on 34th Street," to usher in the season.

All in all, it was a great Thanksgiving!!!

The One With Napoleon

Tonight was the traditional Wednesday before Thanksgiving. It is always a fun day.

At school,  we were supposed to have our annual Turkey Trot. Alas, it got rained out. However, we did watch a movie in school - the Hunger Games. I forgot how good that was.

After school, I got home and we went out to eat lunch. It was actually a flashback to the past - we hit The Outback Steakhouse for a pleasant respite.

Although we were all tired, we also brought back another old tradition - the day before Thanksgiving movie. We went out and saw Napoleon. Now, originally, I was not into seeing this movie. But, then I thought - quirky real life leader meets quirky actor. How could you not see that!

And needless to say, it did not disappoint. Sure, it was a bit of a wacky movie, but Joaquin Phoenix did a great job. He brought Napoleon to life in so many ways. It was a bit accentric...and a little bit over the top - but it was awesome.

The One With the Brown Family Thanksgiving

Last night, we held our annual Brown Thanksgiving at our house. After a hiatus for a few years, we brought it back last year. It was a nice, and after a couple rough years, sentimental time.

Yesterday, brought more of the same. I learned how to make the Brown family stuffing - which is one of my favorite meals of all time. We did a quick set up (well, quick for us is 5 hours of work). Kiff helped a lot and Bri did a little (but she had winter guard practice and dance).

It was a nice afternoon. We had some great turkey (thanks Emmie), squash, potatoes, stuffing, and so on. We had even better conversation and a chance to catch up...which is always nice.

All and all, a great Brown family Thanksgiving.

The One With Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving 2022. And, although we've had a lot of changes in our family, we have a lot to
be thankful for.

Today was definitely not a traditional Thanksgiving, but it was a fun one nonetheless. It began with the kids having a band performance in Gloucester for the annual Gloucester - Danvers football game. It was the last official performance of this half-time show, complete with Music of the Night (from the Phantom of the Opera), Here Comes the Sun (the Beatles) and so on. It was a fabulous finale.

Then, we came home and had snacks while we watched a recording of the Macy's Day parade. Emmie realized she DVRed the wrong one - it was good, but the the one with performances. But, we finally found one of Peacock.

Then, we took a walk in the neighborhood.

After that, we began work on our Thanksgiving meal (which is actually a roast this year). We are still cooking it as I write this at 7:10 PM. We also watched a Friends Thanksgiving episode from the past, too.

This year has a few new traditions - and is a little odd - but we loved it nonetheless.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

The One With Thanksgiving

Today is the 400th anniversary of what we call the traditional Thanksgiving Feast in America (the Pilgrims held their feast sometime in autumn 1621.)

In honor of that, I have a short list poem called What I Like About Thanksgiving

Family time

Feel so fine

Pumpkin pie

Air so dry

Pilgrim prayer

Smells in air

Cranberry

We're so merry

Turkey's roast

Cheery toast

Time to rest

Day so blessed

Wishing all of you a Happy Thanksgiving !!!

The One With The Happy Thanksgiving

Yesterday was Thanksgiving 2017. We had a great day.

Our actual holiday started on the weekend with Emmie's family party...which was fun. We had a great turkey and wrapped up with a Candy Cane Hunt. It was a wonderful day!

Yesterday, we woke up around 7:00. I went for a brief job and we took care of a few things around the house. Then, we had a light breakfast, which was a nice way to start the day. We kicked back and watched the Macy's Day parade...which is always great.

After that, we headed to the Cape for Thanksgiving at Mark's house, which was fun. We got to see the extended family, which we haven't seen in some time. It was a great visit with excellent food and some great pies.

We brought my mom back in the evening and then settled back here. This was a fabulous Thanksgiving.

The One With the Happy Thanksgiving

Yesterday - November 26 - was Thanksgiving in 2015.

It was a great day. We went down to the Cape and celebrated with family. Although the ride down was a bit of a hiccup and one hour longer than expected, the rest of the day was pretty wonderful.

Celebrating with the newest member of our family - Oliver - was fabulous. Seeing family that we don't often see was also wonderful. But, perhaps the best part was just having a fun and restful time together. It truly was magical.

The food, the fire, the pool table, and the cool breeze on a day where the temperatures were above average were also very refreshing.

I have always been fond of Thanksgiving, and this one was truly memorable.

Here is hoping everyone had a happy Thanksgiving!
