The One With the Fourth of July

Today we enjoyed another 4th of July in Danvers. We began the day with the Horribles Parade. It was actually nice to see this year's edition. Last year - the first version after the pandemic - was definitely low key. This year was a little more substantial. In fact,  they had an old car in it.

Later in the day, we broke in our new grill. It was awesome!!! Of course, the burgers and dogs were great! We had Tony come over and had a fun time.

At night, we watched the Boston Pops Fourth of July Spectacular. It was pretty good and the fireworks were amazing. All and all, it was a great fourth!!!

The One With the Fourth of July

This Fourth of July, some normalcy came back into our lives. After a two year COVID hiatus, the Highlands Horribles parade returned. It was a lot of fun to see the parade come back. Although it was only a handful of entries, and it passed by in five minutes, just having them on the street was amazing!!!

We tried to check out to see if the Back Bay parade was up and running, but it seemed we had missed it. It looked similar to the Highlands parade...just a small group. But great to have back.

Later, we went to an event I have always wanted to go to, but never went to - the noontime reading of the Declaration of Independence. Held at the library, we were surprised to find out his is an audience participation event. They actually ask people to come to the library pavillion to read. Some of the hosts saw Kiff and Bri and asked them to participate. Though Bri did not, Kiff did and he did a fine job. It turned out the Bri and Emmie and I eventually participated as part of the "group read" of the last part of the Declaration. It was a fun time. And, we had a nice picture captured by the Danvers Human Rights Committee.

We capped off the night by watching the Pops on TV...always fun!!!

The One With a Fourth of July First Place

This past week, we made our triumphant return to the annual Highlands Horribles Parade. This is a fun parade that passes by our house every Fourth of July. For two years in a row, we partook in the parade and took a respite last year. However, as the revelers past last year, we realized we missed it.

So this year, we made a triumphant return. Emmie launched a beach party theme group and invited people to join us. And join us they did. We had about 20 people in our group following the theme. What fun.

Although we all had a blast, we did have a special moment in the ceremony as well. Our group won First Place for Best Float in our category based on the wagon we created with a portable beach part. HOW AWESOME!

It was great to be back. And we already have a plan for next year...Highlands All Stars!!!
