The One With a Happy Easter

 

 

Today is Easter 2023....and it has been a fun one so far.

 

We opened baskets around 8:00 AM. The Eastern Bunny was great to everyone.

We had a nice brunch with pancakes (I made them), quiche, strawberries, and sausage

We watched It's The Easter Beagle Charlie Brown.

Bri and I went to Easter Mass at 12:00 PM. 

We are watching the Celtics game now at 1: 26 PM

The One With Happy Easter 2022

 

Today is Easter Sunday 2022. So far, we've had quite a memorable weekend.

We started off on Friday with Emmie and I running many errands related to Easter, with stops to Five Below, the Butchery, and Putnam Pantry. Both Chiff and Bri had things they had in the evening with friends.

Yesterday, Chiff and I visited the Cape to see Nani and go out for a dinner at Guirdinos. We had the chance to catch up with Mark, Carol, Trish, AND Mike (who was in for the Boston Film Festival where is short film, Tony at 39! debuted).

I got back and did some last minute errands for Emmie, who was fighting an epic migraine.

This morning, we opened Easter baskets, I went to church (it was amazing to be back), and we just wrapped up Easter brunch listening to vintage Easter music via Youtube. Definitely check it out.

Right now, we are about to watch one of my favorite things on Easter - a biblical movie! The only thing that makes this sad is that it is the first Easter without Dad 2, Uncle Chet, and Aunt Nancy. What a year!

The One With Easter 2021

 

 

Today is Easter Sunday. Happy Easter to all. We have opened baskets, come up with a new video idea (with the toy chicks), and watched Mass on TV. Thanks Easter Bunny. The baskets were great!!!

 

It is a little bittersweet though....it is the first Easter without Mom Number 2. We love you.

 

We made our Easter eggs yesterday and Bri and Emmie made bird's next cookies. They were yummy.

Happy Easter!

Today was April first, a combo April Fool's Day and Easter....the first time these two dates have been paired together since 1956.

At our house, we had a fun day:

• Early morning with baskets (the Easter Bunny was very generous)

• Went to church

• Family brunch

• Walk at Endicott

• Easter Egg hunt

• Small dinner (and watching Ben Hur and King of Kings).

It was a great holiday.

The One With the Easter Bunny

Yesterday, for the first time ever, I was able to join Bri and Kiff on their trip to the Easter Bunny.

It was a great time. In our neck of the woods, they do take Bunny Appointments. However, it seemed so busy, that we did not hear back, so we decided to bust it and get up to the North Shore Mall as fast as we could, earlier than our supposed appointment.

There was a little line....but nothing too bad.

We waited awhile in line before we got close. We heard a few obligatory cries from those kids - like me when I was younger - who were petrified on the bunny. But mostly, kids were having fun. The mall had a great set up where you could take pictures before getting there in some spring time scenery.

When we finally made it, we did have to pause for ten minutes because their was a backlog of people waiting to purchase pictures, so the photographer had to help. All I could think of was, if this were me when I was a kid, it would have been a horrific ten minutes anticipating the bunny. However, this bunny was rather friendly looking (too bad they did not have such friendly looking bunnies like that back in my day), was waving, and even expressed excitement that Bri and Kiff had brought carrots.

Then, it was picture time.

They looked great all dressed up. When the pictures came out - voila - fabulous. You could clearly tell they were brother and sister.

We went home to quickly change then went to Brothers for lunch.

All in all a good first time for me to visit the Easter Bunny (believe it or not, it really was my first time as a person).

We're off to see the Easter Bunny

Yesterday was a right of passage in our house. Emmie took our two kids to see the Easter Bunny at a local store. Right away, I knew she needed a red badge of courage. For, strange but true, I am one of those phobics who can't stand to wait in line to see the good ol' bunny or even Santa for that matter.

I am not sure what it is. Perhaps it is those dark, round eyes that seem to penetrate your. Or, maybe its those lop-sided ears with one that is always slightly folded down. Or, perhaps its just the fact that a tall bunny always looks creeepy. But, for whatever reason, I have not been into the bunny thing. In fact, I think if I ever did go see one as a kid - I was way too afraid to try - I would have been like that kid from The Christmas Story (you know the one...with the goggles) who can't wait to see Santa and then, once he gets there, screams his head off for hours. I am sure that would have happened to me.

I am wondering if the same thing would happen to our son and daughter. To be truthful, before we had kids, I always felt that it would be a crime to have them see one of those figures. But, now that we have our dynamic duo, I realize that persuading them to take a risk is a great idea.

And, for the most part, Em said that it went well yesterday. The kiddos liked the bunny from a distance. And, there may haven been good reason. He wasn't one of those creepadelic looking rodents, but he was sort of grandfatherly; like the white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.

According to Em, all was well until they inched closer. Then, they had all they could do to hold it together. The picture they got says it all. Em is in the background, smiling outwardly, but inward saying "I can't wait to get out of here." Bea is saying - "Who is this guy behind me?" and CJ is saying "Where the heck am I?"

Ahhh, those precious moments. SO fleeting. But it is great to have a picture that will last a lifetime.
