The One With The Booster Shot

I got my Covid 19 Booster shot yesterday at 4:30. I wasn't too sure what to expect, but I actually felt good today.

The One Where We Return To A Restaurant

Today we did something we haven't done on more than a year. We returned to live, in person eating at a restaurant as part of our April Vacation. Shortly after getting my second Moderna Covid Shot, we celebrated by going to the Cheesecake Factory in Peabody.

It felt weird to be back in a restaurant. Although we sat outside for extra safety, it was good to be back.

According to Bri, "it was fun, except the sun was bright. But it was not really that bad."

Kiff added, "it was really fun, but very different."

Emmie and I both got Orange Chicken and Bri and Kiff got the Chicken Romano.

Sure, it might seem like a simple thing, but our return to live eating was definitely something we will always remember.

The One With Emmie's Last Day of School

While we were able to "enjoy" to a degree getting out of school for summer on June 17, Emmie had to wait until the 26th to get out. Part of the reason is her school went to April vacation during the Covid- Quarantine.

Well, summer has arrived...and Emmie now is on "vacation."

Our first goal - to watch a summer vacation movie. Next stop, "One Crazy Summer!"

The One With The Last Week of School

It is hard to believe but this weird school year has finally come to an end. It is definitely memorable and I am going to miss it because it was one of my favorite classes. And it had some many unusual moments.

1. Being in new modulars.

2. Have modulars totally under prepared.

3. Having field trips canceled for EEE.

4. Seeing activities moved to earlier in day because of EEE.

5. Kids that were really good.

6. Seeing Bri take part in her first play.

7. Seeing Kiff come into his own.

8. Having school become "remote learning" on March 13, 2020.

So hard to believe. What a year.

The One With the Busy Week

Wow, this was quite a week. We got a lot accomplished amid the Covid 19 quarantine.

Here's a gander:

1. We got our Traverse that we test drove last week.

2. We began redoing our budget.

3. We weeded the side garden.

4. We went to Josh's rolling rally graduation.

5. We continued doing our Avengers movie watch.

6. Emmie and I wrapped up Season Three of Hart of Dixie, our quarantine binge watch.

7. We opened the pool and Emmie actually went into it before me.

8. We worked on the side back garden and weeded it.

9. We wrapped up phase one of cleaning the porch and help school meetings out there.

10. Emmie and I had a variety of meetings and meets this week.

The One With Rockport

Today, we did our best to try to escape in this COVID shelter in place world. Of course, going anywhere realistically is out of the question....so we take mini trips.

Our road trip today took us to Rockport. It was a nice trip. We took subs in the car with us and parked by Motif 1. We sheltered in the care of course, listening to the 80s on 80 Top 40 from 1984. That was fun.

After lunch, we ventured down the road and noticed the sign for the Paper House. Emmie hadn't been there since she was a kid. We went down and checked it out. It is a private residence, but you can see the house off to the side. It was cool.

Then, we went to the granite wharf, which was awesome. It was a neat, rocky wharf that juts out into the Atlantic and has beautiful views.

Finally, we took the "long way home" following 127 through Manchester (by-the-sea), Beverly, and Danvers.

Overall, a nice little diversion excursion.

The One With The One World: Together At Home

Bri, Kiff, Emmie, and I are watching the 2020 version of Band Aid and Live Aid, called "One World: Together At Home."

It is an impressive show put on my Lady Gaga broadcast on ABC, CBS, and NBC among others networks and social media outlets. It is an amazing show and a way to help raise awareness of the WHO solidary fund. Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Cobert are sheltering in place and hosting this. It is amazing.

It is amazing to see the stories of scientists, do-gooders, medical workers, and teachers.

Right now, one of my former classmates from BC is on - Amy Poehler - at 8:33

Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes are now live at 8:34 doing "Wonderful World."

Other performances were:

• Jimmy Fallon and the Roots doing Safety Dance

• Elton John performing I'm Still Standing

• Paul McCartney singing Lady Madonna (in part in honor of his mother, a nurse).

Thank you to all who are helping us get through this unusual time.

2. I cut the falling portion of a tree in the back

3. Emmie cleaned out bathroom and redid bottom of the hutch with the dishes.

5. We raked the future garden we hope to have in the back

6. We dyed easter eggs.

7. I got gas at an incredible price (1.46 a gallon).

8. I made corn muffins.

9. I got my nails done by Bri.

10. We cleaned the old fashioned teacher desk.

11. We took a ride to Boxford and saw an awesome waterfall on Mill Street.

The One With The School Shutdown Day 5

Well, this is definitely strange times. For the past week, we have been on school shutdown because of Covid-19. In fact, the state of Massachusetts has closed all schools through April 6th in response to the pandemic that has swept the world. New terms, such as social distancing, are being tossed out there with regularity.

As we learn to deal with a new normal, it is amazing how school systems have responded. Bri and Kiff's teachers have shared links to work. Emmie's system is having them post enrichment activities via Padlet. My school system will be launching a mini enrichment bootcamp starting next week where we will Google Meet with students.

Indeed strange times as most schools in America are closed. Weird indeed!
