The One with Pep Band

Kif decided to do something different this year. He decided to join the Pep Band at school. This band performs for DHS sporting events. Tonight, he went to his second performance, playing for the DHS boys basketball team.

Although the team lost, the Pep Band had a great performance!

The One With the Museum of Science

Yesterday, we went to the Museum of Science to enjoy the last day of the "All Aboard Trains" exhibit. And it did not disappoint. The MOS had set up a series of trains to replicate New England places (including Boston). And, they have an amazing train movie at the Omni Theater as well. It was amazing.

However, we did more than just see trains. We watched a 4D movie about Penguins...which was really neat and very interactive.  We also went to the Lightning Exhibit. They have changed it around a little bit. In fact, they even used two different Tesla coils to make music. They place Taylor Swift "Shake it Off."

We went to Bri's favorite place - the Hall of Humans - and did the interactive exhibits. We also managed to check out the old Space Capsule and got a neat picture there. We visited the old butterfly garden, which used to cost money to visit. However, all of the butterflies were gone. I am not sure what exactly happened or if the exhibit is changing, but it might be.

We also got a few snacks when we were there. Bri and I managed to mess up one of the vending machines...always fun.

The One With Bri's First Indoor Field Hockey Game

Bri resumed her field hockey season today by joining the Danvers field hockey team at DIS.

Her team is a little smaller than it was last season, which meant a little more playing time. And, she tried to make the most of it.

She played pretty well on defense. She made five big stops. And she also made a humungous pop up.

And her team won 5-4!!!

The One With A Man Called Otto

We saw a Man Called Otto tonight. I was interested in it, but was unsure of what to expect. It seemed quirky - like some of Tom Hank's latest movies. And yet, just like those, they all seem splendidly unique.

This one was no different. Although it started off dark - Otto is similar to a Sheldon type character from Big Bang Theory. He has just been let go from his job and recently lost his wife after many years. The story depicts how these events, though shattering, can be overcome with the outside world. And, although Otto doesn't think he has much to offer or enjoy from the world, indeed he does.

Hanks is brilliant once again, but the story is equal parts heart-warming and bittersweet. And totally memorable. We all loved it!!!

The One With the Christmas Concert

Yesterday, Bri and Kiff performed their annual Christmas Concert for us. It was pretty good - though as they said, they did not practice too much. Bri performed on flute and Kiff did trumpet.

The songs they played were:

• Christmas is Coming (from Charlie Brown)

• Linus and Lucy

• Perfect (Ed Sheeran)

• Greensleaves

• Carol of the Bells

It was cool.

The One Where Bri Drives

It is not common to start a New Year with a Bang. But, yesterday we did exactly that. While we started the day with some blueberry pancakes and took down the tree, the latter part of the day saw us walking in Wakefield.

On our way home, Emmie turned to me and said that we should go to a local parking lot. When I asked why, she suggested it would be great to have Bri practice driving....which made sense. She will be taking Driver's Ed classes soon.

So we went to the local parking lot and gave Bri the change to drive for the first time. And, she did a great job. She drove forward, turned, and even parked. And, she also came back to pick me up.

What a unique way to start the new year.
