The One With the Test Drive

Earlier today, I had to opportunity to test drive a Chevy Traverse. Wow. That was a lot of fun. A great car with lots of room and good pickup.

I highly recommend.

The One Where We Have Online Recitals

Another Quarantine, another wild week!

Hard to believe it, but this week Bri and Kiff had their recital online. It was amazing!  We really were not too sure what it would look like, but it was amazing!

They all participated during different days this week, but had some great dances. Bri and Kiff each had their own special dances as well, Bri was part of lyrical ballet and Kiff was part of hip hop.

It was awesome! The best part was family members could watch...and they did.

The One Where John Wick Triggers Me

Last night I saw John Wick. Boy, did it anger me. I unleashed my frustration with what Brighid called my "Hashtag Triggered." Here's what I wrote about the movie in response because I was so ticked off.

Hashtag Triggered – John Wick

“That movie was a little disappointing.”

Those words from my son best sum up the experience we had watching the first John Wick movie the other night.

Now, I have to be honest, I am a big Keanu Reeves fan. Sure, he is a little goofy. And, well, his acting can be stilted at times. It can even be quirky in a Northern Exposure sense. But that is part of his charm.

I enjoyed him in Speed. He rocked it in the Matrix. I got a kick out of him in The Replacements – no pun intended. Heck, he was alright in Bill and Ted.

But, I have no clue what people are thinking who say John Wick is the next best thing since The Matric.

Well, maybe it is….for Keanu Reeves. But not for me.

First of all, the whole premise is super annoying. A mob boss’s son and two other “bad guys” decide they want John Wick’s car….of course, one problem.  They don’t realize it is John Wick. So, when John Wick says “no.” They pay him a visit at night, steal a car, kill his dog (that is dreadful scene) and then beat him up and take off with the car.

Problem number one. Why don’t they kill John Wick? Good question. Only answer…that would end the movie after ten minutes.

The rest of the movie a John Wick revenge tour de force on – well – everyone. It appears that the mob boss and every other person who works for him knows who John Wick was and knows one important lesson – don’t mess with John Wick!

Mob boss’s son? No one let him in on this little secret.

Of course, mob boss is one angry papa, but puts a hit on Wick. And of course, all of his henchman are inept – as typically happens in a movie like this  - and you probably know the rest. John Wick 100, Henchman 0.

Literally. There were probably 50 times when Wick should’ve died, whether it was near misses with cars, gigantic falls, or being held captive by more inept henchman, only to escape. Of course, the was the obligatory guy who did get in a few punches before getting it – about 5 times. And then, he was almost killed by a female henchman, but well, that doesn’t go so well either.

Overall, this was super frustrating. By the end, I was rooting for the bad guys. The bad guys! Really ! Of course, I was disappointed…for more reasons than one.
